Because the bubble burst on the UConn men this afternoon at the Sun Dome... The 75-68 loss to South Florida should officially end all talk about this edition of the Huskies going to the NCAA tournament.

New Record for UConn Women with 59-44 Defeat of Notre Dame


Tina Charles, Maya Moore and the latest Connecticut Huskies dynasty now has its own place in the record books. Charles scored 16 points and Moore added 11 to help top-ranked Connecticut win an NCAA record 71st straight game _ a 59-44 victory over No. 6 Notre Dame on Monday night.

Calhoun "Embarrassed By" UConn's 60-48 Loss to Cincinnati


Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun said one emotion dominated all others in his return from a 31/2 week medical leave of absence _ embarrassment.  Cincinnati beat UConn 60-48 on Saturday, holding the Huskies to their lowest point total sincesince 2002.  ``I thought it was one of the worst performances I've had here at UConn in 24 years,'' said Calhoun, who had been sidelined with an undisclosed medical condition since Jan. 19. ``I'm really incredibly disappointed by the performance, and I'm embarrassed by it, quite frankly.''

UConn Snaps Three-Game Losing Streak, 64-57 Over DePail


UConn Associate Head Coach George Blaney, who has been filling in while Jim Calhoun is on a doctor-ordered medical leave, told his team that after three consecutive losses, he was starting to feel sick.  He felt a little better Saturday after Connecticut snapped the three-game losing streak by beating DePaul 64-57.
    

UConn Women Set Record: 37th Straight Week Atop Weekly Poll


Connecticut now stands alone at No. 1 in every way.  UConn was the top choice in The Associated Press women's basketball poll for a record 37th straight week, surpassing Louisiana Tech (1980-82) for the longest streak atop the Top 25. The Huskies again were the unanimous choice as the top team.

Huskies Fall to Providence in Big East, 81-66


_Jamine Peterson had 23 points to go with 14 rebounds, scoring eight of Providence's 14 straight points as the Friars took the lead and ran away from No. 19 Connecticut to win 81-66 on Wednesday night.  Sharaud Curry scored 18, and Bilal Dixon had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Providenc.   Kemba Walker and Gavin Edwards each scored 17 for UConn (13-7,
3-4). It was the Huskies' first loss under substitute coach George Blaney, who took over on Jan. 19 when Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun took a medical leave.

UConn Upsets Top-Ranked Texas, 88-74


Jerome Dyson scored a career-high 32 points and Connecticut overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to upset top-ranked Texas 88-74 on Saturday. The win likely will put the Huskies back into the Top 25 after
they missed the poll for the first time in 36 weeks. It was theirsecond straight victory after three consecutive losses.

56th Straight Win for UConn Women as They Rout #3 Notre Dame 70-46


Connecticut got off to a near-perfect start, showing there is a chasm between it and the rest of women's basketball. Tina Charles scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help  the top-ranked Huskies rout No. 3 Notre Dame 70-46 on Saturday night for its 56th straight win.

The University of Connecticut today released the UConn Women's basketball schedule for 2009-2010. Once again,  the games will be broadcast on WTIC NewsTalk 1080 and wtic.com

UConn Women Hold #1 in AP Poll, Pushing for Second Perfect Season


A few more wins and Connecticut is set to become the second team to run through two straight seasons as the No. 1 team in women's basketball. The Huskies are No. 1 in The Associated Press women's Top 25 for a 42nd straight time over a two-year span after receiving all 40 first-place votes .
